WHAT IT MEANS TO BE ON THE TEAM

There are a few day to day operations that are explained below! This will give you more information about being on the team, the time commitment, the responsibilities, and all of the fun!

THE BREAKDOWN

Practices

Each member, show team or not, is able to sign up to ride on one day or multiple days out of a week. Our practices have around 5-7 riders per hour and there are two hours back to back on each day.  First hour riders are tasked with tacking up the horse and cleaning their stall either before or after their ride. They then ride their full first hour and once their hour is over, the second hour rider is handed the horse. Second hour riders are tasked with cooling down and untacking their horse, giving a rinse or curry if needed. We have a range of practice times from 7-8AM practices to 4-6PM practices and every time in between which allows for our members to choose based around their own schedule.

Care Days

Our members are encouraged to participate in at least three care days per quarter. A care day is when a member is assigned a horse to groom and clean their stall as well as get them out with a turn out, hand walk, or lunge. Overall, members are asked to care for our horses and generally love on without actually riding. This ensures that our beloved horses get the attention they deserve.

Feeding

We ask our members to help out with one feeding shift per quarter so the staff who so kindly feeds our horses morning and night get a little bit of help. This is a great opportunity to get to know the facility better and meet more people on the team.

Meetings

We have meetings once a week, on Tuesdays at 8pm, to allow our board to give updates, discuss upcoming horse shows, and hangout with each other! We hold socials to get to know each other better and in the past we have done potlucks, bonfires, and bowling! We also have volunteer opportunities in order to help our members become more well versed in the equestrian world with an example being scribing for local horse shows.
